  • Many people enjoy planning their own travel, but many do not (or don’t once they work with a travel advisor for the first time). A few reasons you might want to work with a travel advisor for your next trip:

    1. Because you can. You could do all of the research, planning, coordination, and organization yourself, or you could let someone else handle the details and you can just enjoy your vacation. You don’t have to be ultra wealthy get treated like a VIP. It’s free for simple bookings and pretty reasonable for more intricate planning.

    2. To get more for your budget. Travel advisors can unlock value, from free breakfast to upgrades to resort credits. On top of that, instead of spending weeks trying to filter and cross reference across online reviews, google maps, and availability, an experienced travel advisor can point you in the best direction, answer your questions, and help when issues come up.

    3. For personalized recommendations. Working with a travel agency with hundreds of knowledgable, well-traveled advisors means you’ll get personalized, unique recommendations that match your interests and preferences. Or you can trust User30923489328’s opinion on the hotel you are eyeing - up to you!

    4. You’re already paying for it. Third-party websites (like kayak or priceline) make money from the commissions hotels pay for bookings. So if you are currently using those websites, you are doing all of the work to find and book your stay, and then a billion-dollar company gets paid for it. Working with a travel advisor can help you feel good about who is getting your commission.

  • Correct! We don’t charge for simple hotel bookings where you know the dates and destination of your stay. Travel advisors get paid a commission by the hotels — so it costs you nothing.

If you have a complicated multi-destination iternary or need additional planning support, we will provide a quote for those services

  • It depends on the hotel we book, but we have thousands of hotels in our network that offer complimentary room upgrades, early check-in or late check-out, welcome drinks, hotel credits that can be used for spas, and more. Even if we’re booking a hotel not in our network, we’ll reach out and try to get any preferences you request noted and honored.

  • Sort of. You probably associate “travel agents” with people who sell vacation and cruise “packages.” Travel advisors work to get to know you, your interests, and style, and then make custom recommendations. Like financial advisors, we’re experts who will give you the best personalized advice to meet your needs.

  • You should use a travel advisor for any type of trip! We love booking team retreats, group trips, solo travel and sabbaticals, honeymoons or anniversary trips, or anything in between.

It doesn’t have to be elaborate though — we can also book your one-night staycation. Domestic or international, business or pleasure.

  • Airbnb does not work with travel advisors and does not offer commission. As such, if you definitely want to stay in an Airbnb, we can research Airbnbs for you, but will need to charge a modest fee for that work (10% of total booking). Alternatively, we can find and book you a rental with VRBO or Plum Guide for free (both suppliers pay a commission).

General advice on Airbnb: we have mixed feelings about Airbnbs. On the one hand, we’ve never had a bad personal experience with Airbnb and have almost always stayed in beautifully-designed and well-equipped rentals in stunning locations. However, we’ve also found that over the last 2-3 years, the value has gone way down with increases in nightly rates and fees. It really depends on the location, length of time, and group size as to whether we think it’s better than a hotel.

  • After you fill out our contact form, we will reach out to get started. Our process is four steps:

    1. Intake. This includes a proposal for services — so expectations are clear — and an intake form so we get to know your preferences and needs. If we haven’t worked together before, we will also want to set up a short call so we get to know you and learn your communication style (work async in a google doc, hop on a short call to talk through it, etc).

    2. Research. After we finish our research, we will put options in front of you to select from, with information about each that we think will be helpful in choosing. We can offer more or fewer options depending on how involved you want to be in planning.

    3. Book. With your approval of the final price, understanding of the booking terms, and completion of a secure credit card form, we will book your stay. We will also note any preferences and needs with the hotel(s).

    4. Enjoy. You get to enjoy your trip!
